"I’m a multi-disciplined illustrator working across drawing, textiles, printmaking and mixed media. Alongside my own creative practice, I tutor and support others to develop confidence, curiosity and their own visual voice through drawing and making. My work — and teaching — is rooted in mindful observation, play and connection."

Body of Work

Creative Practice and Teaching

Illustration & Design

Working with textiles, print and mixed media, I create expressive, often large-scale work inspired by nature, place and materiality. I’ve delivered commissioned pieces for organisations and public spaces, using art to explore narrative, memory and connection.

Art Tutoring

I offer calm, supportive art tutoring for adults who want to build confidence, develop drawing skills, or reconnect with creativity. My sessions focus on process over perfection, encouraging curiosity, observation and enjoyment through making.

About

Rachel Tappin
Textile Art

Illustration, Textiles & Creative Tutoring

I’m an illustrator, textile artist and art tutor with over 15 years’ experience working with materials, drawing and design. After returning to study as a mature student, I graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) in Illustration from Norwich University of the Arts.

My practice blends textiles, drawing, print and making, creating work that is tactile, expressive and rooted in close observation.

Inspired by nature and everyday details, I’m particularly drawn to textiles and large-scale, three-dimensional work. Whether I’m stitching, sketching, printing or teaching, I enjoy exploring ideas through materials and sharing the creative process with others.

I have worked commercially for Virgin Wines, The National Trust, Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Green Pebble Publishing and Holocaust Centre North.

Alongside my creative work, I run drawing courses for adults, creating a calm and supportive space to rebuild confidence and rediscover the pleasure of making. Sessions are relaxed, friendly and non-judgemental, with a strong emphasis on enjoyment and play.
