My illustration practice spans children’s publishing, licensing, commercial commissions and museum and heritage projects. Drawing and storytelling sit at the heart of my work, combining traditional media, watercolour and digital techniques with a love of character, nature and narrative. I also enjoy exploring mixed media and more experimental approaches, adapting the way I work to suit each project and its story.

The project explores whimsical characters and the richly detailed worlds they inhabit, combining traditional drawing and watercolour with digital techniques.

Norman Remembers

Children’s Publishing · Picture Book · Narrative Illustration

Norman Remembers was written and illustrated for The Royal British Legion, introducing remembrance to younger audiences through the story of Norman and his dog.

Developed from early character sketches into a complete illustrated narrative, the project combines gentle storytelling, expressive characters and historical themes in an accessible and sensitive way.

Lakeside Heron

Inspired by walks around Blickling Hall, where a quiet lake draws in visiting and nesting wetland birds. The still water, historic surroundings and sense of calm made ‘Lakeside Heron’ feel like a natural presence there — elegant, watchful, and perfectly at home in the landscape. The artwork reflects that hush and grace, capturing a fleeting moment of balance between bird, water and place.

The Shell Seekers

Norfolk’s wide skies and sandy beaches — from Blakeney to Holkham and Stiffkey — are home to wonderfully characterful wildlife. ‘The Shell Seekers’ celebrates one of the coast’s most striking residents: the oystercatcher. Foraging among sand and rockpools, their bold black-and-white plumage and vivid orange bills stand out beautifully against the soft tones of the shore.

The Egret

The Northern Gannet

I have always been enchanted by ‘The Northern Gannet’, a striking seabird that nests in vast colonies along steep coastal cliffs. They form strong pair bonds, returning to the same partner year after year. Within these crowded communities, the most desirable nesting spots are fiercely contested, with tensions often rising as birds jostle for position. This artwork captures a moment within that environment, reflecting the energy and pressure of life in a crowded colony.

The Quiet Sandpiper

In this piece I wanted to capture a strong sense of atmosphere. ‘The Quiet Sandpiper’ takes centre stage, standing alone on a rugged cliff as he gazes over the shoreline. To me, he evokes the image of a Scottish bagpiper – solitary, weathered, yet carrying a sense of tradition and majesty. The foreground is rich with rocky textures, contrasted by the deep, beautiful teal blues I so love.

Swan Under the Willow Tree

I live near two bridges that arch gracefully over the River Bure. One day, I noticed a group of swans, with one in particular drifting among the branches of a great weeping willow. The tree leans out over the river, its long tendrils brushing the water’s surface. I see this sight so often, it would be easy to take its beauty for granted, I Just had to capture in this artwork ‘Swan under the Willow Tree’.

Soaring Pheasants

A nearby woodland was alive with towering wild foxgloves, rising almost otherworldly from the shadowy ferns. I paused to photograph them, drawn in by their delicate, spindly beauty. That fleeting moment became the inspiration for this artwork. ‘Soaring Pheasants’ reflects the sudden burst of life when pheasants take flight, their familiar loud squawks echoing through the trees.

Sea Thrift and Stormlight

‘Sea Thrift and Stormlight’ captures a quiet coastal moment. A puffin stands on wave-washed rock, its bright beak and feet glowing against the cool greys of sea and sky. Stormlight softens the horizon as a lighthouse rises behind, while delicate sea thrift clings to the rocks below, adding a note of colour and resilience.

Holocaust Centre North

Live Brief · Museum Interpretation · 3D Installation

Created in response to a live brief from Holocaust Centre North, this project explored the memories of Holocaust survivor Trude Silman, using one of her childhood swimming certificates as the starting point.

Drawing on Trude’s recorded interviews, I developed a three-part installation representing her early childhood in Bratislava, her journey to the UK on the Kindertransport, and her experience of adapting to a new life. Fish and water became recurring motifs, inspired by her memories of swimming with her father in the River Danube.

Combining illustration, laser-cut materials and layered construction, the installation was designed to be viewed through a central opening. Each layer reveals the next, leading ultimately to Trude’s childhood memory of the Danube — exploring the idea that core memories can remain strong, however distant in time they become.

Shadow Shapes

Created in response to a live brief with the Sainsbury Centre during my Illustration degree, Shadow Shapes was inspired by the abstract forms and cast shadows found throughout the museum's collection.

I developed a playful, interactive construction set using shapes derived from museum objects. The pieces can be assembled and illuminated to create unexpected shadows, encouraging imaginative drawing, storytelling and creative play. The project developed from observational research and experimentation through to laser-cut prototypes, branding, packaging and presentation to the client.
