Welcome to My Journal

When I began creating this website, I knew I wanted a place to share more than finished artwork.

This journal is where I'll be sharing the stories behind each collection, glimpses into life in my North Norfolk studio, and the process of turning hand-drawn illustrations into stitched textile pieces.

Every piece begins with a drawing. Once I'm happy with the design, it's carefully transferred onto vintage or repurposed fabric. Using free-motion embroidery, I stitch the outlines before gradually building layers of fabric and paint. It's a slow, thoughtful process, and one I never tire of.

One of the things I love most is choosing the fabrics. Many have lived another life before finding their way into my work, and it's often the texture, faded colours or tiny imperfections that give each piece its own character. Sometimes the fabric suggests a direction I hadn't planned, and those unexpected moments are often my favourites.

My newest collection, Beyond the Barn Door, celebrates the quieter beauty of the countryside. Inspired by North Norfolk, it brings together farmyard animals, wildflowers and the small details that often go unnoticed but make rural life so special.

I hope this journal gives you a little insight into the creative process, the inspiration behind each collection, and the stories stitched into every piece.
